"Karmayoga does not mean ceaseless pursuit of karma. It truly consists in the Yoga orientation and discipline given to the buddhi and the mind. Constant preservation and application of Yogabuddhi while doing any work, alone makes one a Karmayogin."

The fourth in the series, this book covers chapters from 7 to 12.

This volume contains concepts presented in chapters 7 through 12 of the Bhagavadgita. Subtler and loftier notes of devotional sadhana are wonderfully presented by Swamiji. Transcendental dimension of the Guru,"mat-paratva" (Regard Me as Supreme) and "Vishwarupa-darshana" its truths and myths are some of the concepts presented by Swamiji from the standpoint of his experiential clarity as a Knower Teacher.

Extracts from the book:

In the fullness of its creativity, Nature displays the effects of sattva guna, rajo guna as well as tamo guna.  Whatever be the nature of these qualities, Krishna emphasizes that the seeker has to consider all as evolved from the same single source, the Supreme.  Some qualities may tend to evoke dislike, but such an urge has to be suerseded by the greater truth that they are a display of the Supreme.  The mind fosters no dislike towards any aspect of the world.  Instead, a uniform outlook and vision to accept and integrate all, is called for.

What is that supreme abode?  Krishna's words are very significant and wholesome.  Keeping all the senses (that perceive the external objects) under check and restraining the mind within, strive to remember the Lord all the time, and then leave the world with no other thought or fascination (8.13).  No possession, acquisition or attachment is ultimately rewarding. Nothing from the world can redeem the human soul.  Instead, it is the readiness and strength to dispossess everything and all, that verily keeps fulfillment of human life.

He went a step further: " The Almighty does not take away anyone's sin or virtue.  All ideas and prayers in this context are just a display of ignorance.  Right knowledge gets covered by its wrong counterpart.  And humanity suffers under the distoration."  The effects of ignorance are colossal.  The only course is to make knowledge blaze forth, like smokeless fire.  That will then bring the supreme Truth into full focus.  Everything will become clear to the intelligence and heart.  The delusion that has befallen the intelligence, has to be cleared by intelligence alone.  The potential for it is hidden within the human (5.15-16).

People who are devoted to God are not able to make their devotion wholesome and fulfilling, only because they fail to know well what their devotion and the object of devotion mean and imply.  If only the comprehensive nature of the Supreme is brought home or comprehended by devotees, they cannot but become exclusive and wholesome in their devotional attunement.   To enter the human core and bring about qualitative change or improvement, knowledge alone is effective. It is indispensible.
