Harih Om Tat Sat. Yesterday Kattoor Grocery Store sent the supplies to Chazhoor Panchayat Community Hall. A young team of 35 including women packed them under the leadership of the Panchayat President, Vice President and Health Inspector. Nearly four and half tons of rice was packed in one and half hours. As it was over, potatoes arrived, dal and onion followed. Then arrived oil, tea and sugar, all of which were transferred into small packets. As soon as the packing was over, six Dharma Sevaks, under the guidance of Sreekumar from the Ashram, together with the Chazhoor team loaded the packed items in two trucks and moved to the distribution centres. First distribution was at 5.30 pm. After distributing the food supplies to around 950 migrant workers, the truck with the remaining materials came to the Ashram. Cherpu and Antikkad Inspectors of Police, under whom Chazhoor Panchayat falls, with their teams were present throughout, in all the 18 centres. The officials as well as the residents were amazed at what was done for the needy outsiders in such a short span of time. Today the distribution of the remaining 150 relief packages started at 9.30 forenoon and concluded by 11.30 am. In the afternoon, 25 migrant labourers from Vadookkara village under Thrissur Municipality area, identified by the local Councillor and 78 guest workers additionally identified by Paralam Panchayat President, were given food supplies. Our country’s cultural motto is atithi devo bhava. Meaning, treat the guests as you will God, worshipping them with the articles they need. No wonder, there are many even today, upholding this great value and adhering to them delightfully.
