❑ 47th Jamshedpur Annual Jñ¡na Yajña: A major part of the events of Jñana Yajña was already reported in the ‘News & Notes’ section of the March issue. One of the Poojya Swamiji speaking on “Integrity – its need and rewards”, at Tata Main Hospital, Jamshedpur (Feb 15) significant aspects of Poojya Swamiji’s visit to Jamshedpur this year was finalizing the constructional details of CIRD. Poojya Swamiji announced that a programme exclusively for the students should be held at the new Centre this year itself. In addition, there should be at least two programmes for the ‘Industries & Corporates’ in the following year. “Let there be a spirit of involvement among all members,” he emphasized.
On Feb 25, at the Sri Krishna Temple in Telco, Poojya Swamiji spoke in Malayalam, quoting extensively from áreemad Bh¡gavatam. The hall was packed with devotees. The Temple Committee had arranged bhaktibhojana for all.
Poojya Swamiji’s 5-day public discourse on “Inner Spiritual Splendour” was held at Madrasi Sammelani (between Feb 16 & 20)
The annual Vishnu-sahasra-nama Samuhika Yajna was conducted on Feb 27 in the premises of Bharat Sevashram Sangha. It was followed by bhaktibhojana, in which 1700 devotees, including 500 students of Bharat Sevashram Sangha, took part.
On Mar 2, following the celebration of Shiva-ratri, Poojya Swamiji lucidly explained to the assembled devotees, the deeper meaning and concept of ‘Shiva’: “Your Self is the Shiva, the Consciousness. With this knowledge cut asunder all plural thoughts. Be a constant Self-seer. Make the external world a means to understand the dimensions of your own
mind. Feel the strength and fullness of the Inner Presence.”
Poojya Swamiji along with Nutan Swamiji and Ma returned to the Ashram on Mar 04.
❑ Programmes in Delhi: Poojya Swamiji along with Nutan Swamiji and Ma arrived in Delhi on Mar 15. Brni. Namrata Swaroopa accompanied them. They were hosted at Greater Kailash Enclave, New Delhi.
On Mar 16 evening, the pada pooj¡ was held at the Lal Ded Centre in Pamposh Enclave, New Delhi. The archana was performed by Smt. Sangeeta Gupta and Smt. Mriga Sidhu on behalf of all the devotees.
Poojya Swamiji’s classes on Vivekachudamani and Ma’s classes on ‘Living Joyfully’ in the morning, Nutan Swamiji’s classes on Bhagavadgeeta and Poojya Swamiji’s Q-A sessions in the evening, were held at the same venue.
Poojya Swamiji conducted a Workshop on “Harnessing Inner Resources for Ethical Leadership and Governance”, for corporate leaders on Mar 19 at the India International Centre. On Mar 20, at the Shri Uttara Guruvayurappan Temple, Mayur Vihar Phase – I, Poojya Swamiji spoke in Malayalam on “Bhakta-manassinte Valarchayum Uyarchayum (Growth
& Elevation of Devotee’s Mind)”. Foundation for Restoration of National Values (FRNV) organized a talk by Poojya Swamiji on “Valuebased Leadership – towards a Sustainable Civilization” in Metro Bhavan Auditorium on Mar 23.
2nd Prakash Mehrotra Memorial Lecture by Poojya Swamiji on “Mind –its Majesty & Magnificence” was held at Nehru Memorial Museum & Library Auditorium, Teen Murti House, on Mar 27.
Poojya Swamiji along with Nutan Swamiji and Ma are expected to be back in the Ashram by Mar 29.
❑ Pongala at Pandavagiri Devi Temple: The 2nd annual ‘Pongala samarpanam’ at the centuries old Pandavagiri Devi Temple was conducted on Mar 06. Devotees closely associated with the Temple had formed a committee to organize various activities related to the function. They arranged for 1000 simple firewood-ovens, using which devotees could prepare payasam (sweet made of rice and jaggery) as an offering to the Goddess.
Coming to know of the sacred event through announcements in the Asianet ( regional Malayalam TV Channel), a large number of devotees enthusiastically assembled at the temple. Villagers came forward whole-heartedly to wash the vessels, set up the ovens, distribute pooja materials and coordinate other activities so that devotees could conduct the holy event in an orderly manner.
Speaking on the occasion, Poojya Swamiji said that such collective expressions of ardent devotional offerings – withstanding the blazing sun above – would surely please Devi, and She would bestow prosperity on them. He also said that ‘congregational worship’ will help develop mutuality and collectivity, enhancing societal awareness and strength of
the entire community.
❑ Poojya Swamiji’s 78th Jayanti will be observed on May 13 at the Ashram as well as at the Centres in Delhi, Malaysia, USA and Jamshedpur. The day will also be observed by devotees in Chennai, Mumbai and Pune.
❑ 12-week Residential Programme on Experiential Vedanta: The 12-week residential programme for spiritual seekers will be conducted in the Ashram from April 11 to July 2. A number of participants will be hosted in the Ashram during this period.
